Kate Middleton impressed royal fans with her musical talents during the "Royal Carols: Together at Christmas" broadcast Friday.

During the Christmas carol concert, which was held at The Chapter House inside Westminster Abbey in London on Dec. 8 and aired on ITV on Christmas Eve, the Duchess of Cambridge joined Scottish singer Tom Walker onstage to perform his song "For Those Who Can't Be Here."

Middleton played the piano, while the 30-year-old musician sang the poignant lyrics and played the guitar. This marked the 39-year-old royal's first-ever public piano performance.

Middleton's performance received praise among royal supporters and social media users.

"Is there anything Kate Middleton can’t do?" one royal fan tweeted.

"Oh my god, I’d no idea Catherine played! [I] didn’t think I could love her anymore, but I teach music and piano is my instrument, and that was absolutely gorgeous," another wrote.

"The Duchess of Cambridge has always reminded me of Mary Poppins because she is practically perfect in every way. What an exemplary woman," a third fan wrote.

"This left me speechless. Just when you think that Catherine has reached her peak, she never stops surprising by her humbleness and sensibility," one supporter commented on the Cambridges' YouTube channel. "They could have done a 'popular' Christmas song and they chose this instead, and it shows just another kind of humanity. I am a Latin woman, but I’m so inspired by you, Catherine."

One fan said she admired Middleton's humility and "courage" to perform with professional musicians, adding, "I hope the duchess will continue playing the piano as obviously, she is a very talented pianist."

Some social media users said that Middleton channeled her late mother-in-law Princess Diana, who once gave a piano performance in Australia in 1988.

"Princess Diana played the piano [well] too! How lovely that the Duchess shares the same gift. It's been wonderful seeing all her talents, from photography to beekeeping and now the piano," one person tweeted.

"I recall Princess Diana played the piano," another wrote.

"Kate Middleton proving she’s the best thing to happen to the royals since Princess Diana," a third fan tweeted.

The "Royal Carols: Together at Christmas" carol concert was spearheaded and hosted by Middleton and supported by The Royal Foundation. The event paid tribute to the work of individuals and organizations across the U.K. who have supported their communities through the COVID-19 pandemic.

A royal source told People that it was Middleton who approached Walker with the idea of performing together at the carol service. She met Walker at a Forward Trust event in October and heard him perform "Leave a Light On," his song about the struggles of those experiencing addiction.

Middleton, who learned the piano as a child and has taken "great comfort" in playing music throughout the pandemic, then asked the musician to play his holiday song "For Those Who Can't Be Here" during the Christmas concert because it had "such pertinence for so many this year," the unnamed insider added.

Middleton and Walker's performance was pre-recorded the day before the Dec. 8 service, according to the insider. The two had rehearsed the song together once in London and then recorded it over a "couple of takes," the source added.
