Ukraine Keeps Targeting Russian Energy Infrastructure. Moscow Now Reportedly Cut Its Natural Gas Forecasts.

Russia reduced its natural gas production and exports forecasts for the year as Kyiv continues to target energy infrastructure, according to a new report.

Citing the draft of a government document, Reuters detailed that the change also comes as European countries ready to end their last purchases of Russian natural gas. Moscow claimed the countries are hurting themselves by paying more for gas in the spot market and stands ready to resume flows.

The draft notes that production will end up at 683.1 billion cubic meters, 5.3 below May's expectations. The figure, however, it's still above 2025.

Reuters had reported that Russia had also reduced its oil output forecast for the year, falling to a 17-year low.

President Donald Trump said on Monday that Russia has "unfortunately lost control" of its diesel industry.

In a social media post, Trump said that a "large number of their Diesel refineries have been blown up and are, at least temporarily, out of commission."

He went on to renew his calls for the war to end. "The whole World suffers as 25,000 people, mostly soldiers, are being killed each month. What a shame!" Trump concluded.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reacted to the publication, reiterating that "this Russian war against Ukraine and against common sense must be ended."

He went on to say that there is a dialogue with the U.S. taking place and enumerated some de-escalation possibilities. "Ukraine's energy sector, critical infrastructure, and our food exports must stop being targets for Russia, and this will lead to matching de-escalation steps on our part."

Zelenskyy has also called for Trump to organize a meeting with him and Putin, saying global leaders need to move "as quickly as possible" to reach an agreement to end the war.

Meeting with Trump on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, he said he focused on a winter package of Patriot missiles and licenses to produce weapons in the country.

"President Trump, our teams, and I spoke about how to end the war. This is the priority. We are ready. I'm not sure Russia is ready as of today, but anyhow, we spoke about an energy ceasefire," he added.

"We are ready for an energy ceasefire if they do not attack our energy system, our electricity, heating, and water supply. This is our proposal. We are thankful to the American side. They will share it with the Russians. I don't know the Russian position," Zelenskyy concluded.
