A man stabbed two employees Saturday at the Museum of Modern Art for being denied access. The incident was caught on a surveillance camera.

The video released by the New York Police Department on Sunday shows Gary Cabana, 60, jumping over a counter near the entrance of the museum with a knife, and attacking the workers. Police are still searching for Cabana.

During a news conference outside of the museum, John Miller, the deputy commissioner for the Police Department’s Intelligence and Counterterrorism Bureaus said Cabana’s membership had “expired as a result of two incidents involving disorderly conduct here at the museum on two separate dates in recent days.”

Cabana’s membership expired on Friday, and he wanted to watch a film at the museum on Saturday. After he was denied entry, Cabana became “upset” and then “proceeded to attack and stab two employees of the museum multiple times,” Miller said.

Cabana stabbed a female employee in the lower back and neck and a male employee in the left collarbone. The two victims, who are both 24 years old, were taken to Bellevue Hospital and are in stable condition.

Police explained that Cabana is “known to employees here” and that it is believed to have not been a random attack. Cabana had also been involved in other incidents in the area.

The Museum of Modern Art announced on Twitter that it would be closed Sunday.
