A 30-year-old violent felon has escaped his parole custody in New York City, according to officials.

Travis Simon reported to the New York State Division of Parole's office in Manhattan Wednesday, after being released on Feb. 4 to parole supervision. There he was informed that he was being referred to the 45-day treatment program, as it was determined that he had "in an important respect," violated his parole conditions, ABC News reported.

That is when the felon escaped his custody at 314 W. 40th Street in Midtown Wednesday afternoon, as per a statement from Thomas Mailey, spokesperson of the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.

"Community Supervision staff have been working with the parolee since his release on various violations of his conditions of parole," Mailey said.

The New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision has notified both the state as well as the local law enforcement agencies pertaining to the parolee who escaped his parole custody, and both the agencies are on an active lookout for him. Further, an absconder warrant for Simon was issued by the facility.

Simon was convicted on a class B violent felony, which is a first- degree assault, and was sentenced to seven years in prison at a hearing held in July 2011. According to the New York state inmate records, he will be on parole supervision until June 2022.
