Wall Street extends gains after data
Stocks extended gains on Monday after data showed construction spending rose in March and pending home sales increased more than anticipated.
The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> gained 152.05 points, or 1.85 percent, to 8,364.46. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> rose 16.79 points, or 1.91 percent, to 894.31. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> added 25.58 points, or 1.49 percent, to 1,744.78.
