Thursday is the final night of the Republican National Convention, which will be capped off by a speech from President Donald Trump. Earlier in the convention, Trump and Vice President Mike Pence accepted the party’s nomination for a second term in office.

Coming at the end of the night, Trump’s address is scheduled to begin around 10:30 p.m. EDT on the various networks broadcasting the convention. Trump will formally accept the nomination from the South Lawn of the White House.

As a hurricane batters the Gulf Coast and protests continue in many cities, Trump’s planned speech is said to be “hopeful.” Trump has often abandoned striking an optimistic tone, as he did in his inauguration speech when he touched on "American carnage."

Prior to this, the final night of the convention will feature speeches from Housing Secretary Ben Carson, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, the president’s daughter Ivanka Trump, and former New York City Mayor and Trump legal team member Rudy Giuliani.

The president’s decision to deliver his speech from the White House, a major break from tradition, has drawn scrutiny from both sides of the political spectrum. Those opposed to the move have stated that the use of federal property for such an address is a conflict. Trump has countered that the venue will save costs on travel and security.
