I’ll take you’re in big trouble for $600, Alex. Ramping up to Monday’s episode of the long-running game show “Jeopardy!”, a leaked video surfaced online that showed fan favorite contestant James Holzhauer ending his run on the show after being bested by librarian Emma Boettcher. However, in the shocking aftermath, fans began to wonder what exactly, if anything, would happen to the mysterious leaker.

The clip was posted to Twitter prior to the airing of the Final Jeopardy! segment that was the ultimate blow to Holzhauer’s superb record. In an interview with The Washington Post, executive producer Harry Friedman stated that while he “can’t say at this point” who the leaker is, he did have a good idea of their identity. He added that if the right person is tracked down the show will be taking “very, very, very appropriate action.”

In the aforementioned interview, Friedman said that “Jeopardy!” producers were told the bad news that someone had pirated the episode’s feed and leaked a clip the Sunday before the air date. “Somebody alerted us that they had seen it on YouTube. By the time we saw it, it already had 2,000 views,” he stated.

In the end, Friedman said that he was “pleased and surprised” that nothing had come to light earlier, especially as audience members are not required to sign nondisclosure agreements. “I think that speaks for the respect that people in the studio audience have for the show," he said, adding, “That part of it was very much appreciated.”
