Every year, Hallmark Channel airs a “When Calls the Heart” Christmas special, and 2018 is no different. The film, which airs on Christmas Day, will help hold fans over until Season 6 of the period drama airs in 2019.

So, what can fans expect from this year’s Christmas special? International Business Times asked star Andrea Brooks (Faith Carter) to spill all about it.

“You’re gonna have a major Christmas surprise, which I think the fans are fully aware of what the surprise is going to be during the Christmas special,” she told IBT. “Of course, it has to do with Elizabeth [Erin Krakow].”

As Elizabeth, who’d recently lost her husband Jack Thornton (Daniel Lissing), found herself wondering if she was pregnant at the end of the Season 5 finale, it’s likely the big “surprise” has to do with the baby.

Aside from that, Brooks mentioned Hearties will see more of what they’ve come to love from all of the previous “WCTH” specials.

“I think you can kind of expect what you get from every Christmas movie,” the actress said. “You get a lot of community, a lot of spirit, a lot of people coming together, the town rallying together. You’re gonna see a lot of that. Of course, we have our amazing Christmas tree, and you have a lot of snow on the ground.”

What makes this movie extra special, though, is the authentic Christmas feel it has because of when it was filmed.

“Because we shot this in October — late October — it was actually starting to feel a little cold out,” the “Supergirl” star shared. “So, it’s so different from shooting Christmas in June or July or August, which so often happens. And you’re wearing your big Christmas parka and you’re sweating. So, there was none of that this year. There were certain days on set you could see your breath. So, it really gives this Christmas movie quite an authentic feel. And I’m so thankful that we managed to schedule things this way because it felt much more real.”

What also feels authentic to her is a specific Faith scene that she loves because of how much it reminds her of herself.

“Faith makes a funny reference to her inability to cook, which I find hilarious because that’s just me, because I’m not a very good cook, either,” she said. “So, there’s a funny moment in there, referencing that.”

When it comes down to it, though, she thinks “it’s the group scenes that…really make the Christmas movie, and there’s a lot of that.” Plus, according to Brooks, many of the best moments arrive later in the film.

“I know they’re gonna enjoy, toward the end of the movie, there are some pretty amazing moments, during the end of the special, that everyone’s gonna love.”
