In a shocking twist to the ongoing saga over a photo of comedian Kathy Griffin holding Donald Trump’s severed and bloodied head, the comedian is calling a press conference to respond to the backlash against her, and to call out the Trump family for what she says is bullying.

According to TMZ, Griffin, 56, will hold a press conference later today to explain what her “true motivation” was when it came to the now widely criticized photo shoot with Tyler Shields, where Griffin holds a model of the President’s head that has been detached from its body and covered in blood. Her attorney, Lisa Bloom, also said that Griffin would lash out at the President during the conference, and discuss the bullying she says she has received from the Trump family since the photo was released.

Bloom confirmed the conference, which is set to take place in Woodland Hills, California, at 9 a.m. PT, in a tweet, where she admitted she was “honored" to be representing the comedian.

Those who wish to watch the press conference can catch a live stream via TMZ beginning at 12 p.m. EDT/9 a.m. PT HERE.

In her initial tweets about the photo (which she has since deleted), Griffin indicated that the photo was a parody of Trump’s exchange with former Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly during a debate she moderated during the presidential primary season, and admitted that she didn’t want to incite violence and was merely mocking the president.

“I caption this ’there was blood coming out of his eyes, blood coming out of his...wherever,’” she wrote. “OBVIOUSLY, I do not condone ANY violence by my fans or others to anyone, ever! I’m merely mocking the Mocker in Chief.”

However, after the backlash, she quickly deleted those tweets and instead shared a video of herself apologizing, saying she knows she crossed the line.

“Hey, everybody, it’s me, Kathy Griffin,” she said. “I sincerely apologize. I am just now seeing the reaction to these images. I’m a comic, I crossed the line. I move the line. Then I cross it. I went way too far. The image is too disturbing. I understand how it offends people. It wasn’t funny. I get it. I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my career. I will continue.”

The backlash Griffin received came from both sides of the political spectrum, with even others who have previously criticized Trump and his administration condemning the image, with the Trump family, specifically the President himself, the First Lady, and his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr. vehemently opposing it the most.

The President took to Twitter to condemn the photo, saying it had traumatized his kids, most specifically, his 11-year-old son, Barron, who reportedly became distraught when he saw the image on TV.

His older son, Trump Jr., took to social media several times about the photo, blasting Griffin, the Left, and CNN before the cable news channel severed ties with her. He also tweeted about how he wasn’t looking forward to having to explain the image to his own children, who he predicted would be as scarred as their 11-year-old Uncle.

The First Lady criticized the photo in a statement as well, saying it made her question Griffin’s mental health.

“As a mother, a wife and a human being, that photo is very disturbing. When you consider some of the atrocities happening in the world today, a photo opportunity like this is simply wrong and makes you wonder about the mental health of the person who did it,” she said.
