The White House holiday decorations were opened to the media Wednesday.
The theme of this year's decorations is 'Shine, Give, Share.' and the decorations honor U.S. military service.
The highlight of the decor is the official White House Christmas tree, which has been placed in the Blue Room, and features cards written by children of U.S. military members and medals, badges and patches from all branches of the U.S. military. The Christmas tree ornaments also honor fallen members of the U.S. military, Reuters reports.
Other decorations on display feature a Christmas tree dedicated to Gold Star families, who lost family members in the Iraq War. Various representations of the first dog Bo, Obama's pet dog, are also a part of holiday decorations.
