An investigation surrounding Josh Duggar might be unfolding. According to TMZ, Homeland Security was seen around the car dealership where Duggar works.

A source close to the situation told the outlet that “agents went to the dealership in Springdale, Arkansas, in connection to a federal probe.” Homeland Security wouldn’t tell TMZ what they were investigating but they did confirm having agents at the dealership.

At the time of this writing, it is unclear whether or not Duggar is the focus of this investigation.

Earlier this week news went viral of Homeland Security raiding Duggar’s home but KNWA, a local news outlet in Springdale, confirmed that the story was false. A spokesperson verified to KNWA that “the agency was in Arkansas for a federal crime investigation, but it was at a business associated with Josh Duggar and not a residence.”

The reason why it is so hard for Homeland Security to discuss anything is that they can’t speak about anyone “that may be under investigation” and can’t discuss open investigations.

“I’m not able to speak specifically, but in a general sense, when a federal law enforcement agency is at a location pursuant to an 'ongoing federal investigation,' there is a very narrow set of circumstances that would apply, and I would say that our presence is consistent with that. I’m just not able to discuss the exact nature,” the spokesperson told KNWA.

The family’s publicist, Chad Gallagher, released a statement discussing the fake news story that went around the internet. “Yesterday, we were shocked to read that some news outlets falsely reported that our home was raided by federal agents. We are glad to see that those false reports are now being retracted. As to any investigation being conducted, to our knowledge, no member of our family is a target of any investigation of any kind by any local, state, or federal agency. We appreciate the outpouring of love and support received from our friends and fans.”
