From the outside looking in, Meghan Markle may appear to be living out a fairytale after her royal wedding with Prince Harry. But behind closed doors, the 37-year-old is reportedly having doubts about her inner circle.

Since becoming a member of the royal family and landing the title as the first Duchess of Sussex, Markle has stopped speaking to some of her closest friends due to her concerns about privacy.

“Meghan has lost touch with some of her close friends from before the wedding, which has been tough,” a source told People.

Markle is reportedly struggling to figure out who she can confide in. “She’s finding it hard to know who to trust,” the insider added.

Aside from marrying Prince Harry, Markle’s personal life has been in the media for several other reasons, mainly because of her estranged family. The former “Suits” actress’ father and half-sister, Thomas and Samantha, have continuously spoken negatively about her and the royal family in the press.

“It was very wearing on her. It’s her private life,” a source shared.

Although she may not be thrilled about her family’s open relationship with the media, Markle has received a ton of support from her in-laws. A Buckingham Palace insider previously told Us Weekly that Queen Elizabeth II doesn’t blame the former actress for her family’s behavior.

“Meghan is in a tough place, and the queen knows it’s completely out of Meghan’s hands. She has only sympathy for what’s been a difficult and distressing situation for her,” the source explained.

Even though her family has caused quite a media frenzy by publicly slamming Markle, she has also managed to strengthen her relationship with Prince Charles in the process. “Meghan has established a particularly warm relationship with her father-in-law and Prince Charles adores his new daughter-in-law,” an insider told Entertainment Tonight.

The palace is reportedly working on “a more aggressive strategy to stem the embarrassment” the Duchess of Sussex’s family has caused by talking to the press. In the meantime, Markle and Prince Harry are preparing on their 16-day tour of Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand scheduled to begin next month.
