  • "Star Wars:Obi-Wan" TV series put on hold
  • Sources claim there were concens about the story
  • The production is expected to begin in January 2021

The “Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi” TV series that was supposed to begin production soon has been put on hold. The problem Lucafilm executives reportedly had with the project was with the story. A new script will now be written before it is approved for filming.

According to a report by Deadline, the creative team for the “Star Wars” TV series will be reshuffled after they found some problems with the story. Hossein Amini will no longer be writing the script, and the project has been postponed until the new team comes up with a better script.

The Obi-Wan (Ewan McGregor) TV series hasn’t been dropped. However, the fans will have to wait a little longer to see the Jedi back in action.

A source told The Hollywood Reporter that the problem with the script was that it was very similar to “The Mandalorian.” The script was supposedly about the veteran Jedi protecting a Young Luke and perhaps his twin sister Leia. This seemed very similar to how Pedro Pascal’s character protects Baby Yoda in the other TV series.

The change is not just restricted to the story. The studio executives have also reportedly scaled back on the scope of the show by reducing the number of episodes from six to four. They are now reportedly looking for a new writer to give them another story.

McGregor also talked about the delay in making the new Obi-Wan series in an interview with IGN recently. The actor explained that the only change is that the filming will begin in January 2021 instead of August this year. He added that the scripts he read were “really, really good.”

While the production of “Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi” series has been delayed, it hasn’t affected the release date, McGregor confirmed. The actor explained that delays are expected on such projects and it is only about them wanting to spend more time writing the script.
