  • The POTUS refused to denounce his birther theory against Barack Obama

Donald Trump previously accused Barack Obama of not being a natural-born citizen of the United States that’s why he couldn’t run for president.

Before the POTUS came up with his birther theory against the ex-president of the United States, his staff reportedly warned him about it. They urged him to not make the allegations public because it lacked the proper source.

However, Trump refused to listen to his staff. In fact, he even had a meltdown when they tried to stop him. In the book “Sinking in the Swamp: How Trump’s Minions and Misfits Poisoned Washington,” authors Lachlan Markay and Asawin Suebsaeng detailed the incident further.

They said that when Trump’s staff asked him to make a statement, he responded via a conference call. One source described the call as a curse-filled conversation. The source also revealed that the POTUS tried to stress that his birther crusade was necessary, good and proper.

Melania Trump’s husband also reportedly took credit for Obama eventually settling the issue by releasing his long-form birth certificate. He said that the Americans would never get to see the document if not for his incessant questioning.

Trump was convinced that he was able to achieve something that the other presidents weren’t able to. And he also went as far as blaming Hillary Clinton for being the so-called godmother of the racist birtherism craze. According to Vanity Fair, this wasn’t necessarily the case.

After Obama shared a copy of his birth certificate and proved that he was eligible to run for president, Trump seemingly tried to make light of the issue.

“President Barack Obama was born in the United States, period. Now, we all want to get back to making America strong and great again,” he tweeted.

Meanwhile, Obama’s wife, Michelle Obama, previously revealed that she will never forgive Trump for making up lies about her husband’s citizenship. In her book “Becoming,” Michelle said that her biggest concern during that time was her two daughters, Malia, and Sasha.

“What if someone with an unstable mind loaded a gun and drove to Washington? What if that person went looking for our girls? Donald Trump, with his loud and reckless innuendos, was putting my family’s safety at risk. And for this I’d never forgive him,” she wrote.
