  • First responders went inside the house to find the victim lethargic and extremely tired
  • A lemonade bottle with a powdery substance at the bottom was found inside the house
  • The woman began yelling at the police saying she poisoned her partner of nine years

A woman was arrested for spiking her partner’s lemonade in a bid to “shut him up.” The Florida resident from Jacksonville brazenly told police officers that she poisoned him just enough to keep him quiet and then called 911 to make sure he doesn’t die.

Alvis Parrish, 54, was sitting on her front porch as first responders arrived at her house on Dec. 7. “Yeah, I did it ... because he wouldn’t shut the [expletive] up,” Parrish yelled at officers, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office arrest report. She had been with her partner for about nine years before spiking his drink with an antipsychotic drug, according to Action News Jax.

“I gave him just enough to shut him up and called y’all so he wouldn’t die,” she told officers.

As the officers handcuffed her, Parrish said, “Do whatever you want, if you don’t take me, I will kill him.”

Details revealed by the police said that Parrish added Seroquel, an antipsychotic drug, to the man's lemonade. Seroquel is a medication that is usually prescribed to treat schizophrenia, according to the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

When officers found Parrish’s partner, they saw that he was very lethargic, said the arrest report. The victim also told officers that he was feeling extremely tired but had no idea why. Officers then asked him why Parrish would give him the antipsychotic drug, to which he replied, “I’m not sure why she would give me that. I don’t take Seroquel.”

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department left the house after they saw that the victim did not want to be taken to the hospital. However, the victim was finding it difficult to fill out domestic battery paperwork despite help from a JSO officer. He also said he felt something was off with his lemonade.

First responders were still in the area and decided to go back and check on the victim. They then found him lying on the floor and saying he wasn’t feeling good. That’s when the victim was finally taken to the hospital for treatment.

Upon investigation, police officers found a bottle of lemonade inside the house. They also noticed that a powdery substance had collected at the bottom of the bottle. Not only did Parrish admit to officers that she poisoned his drink, but she also wrote about her actions in a notebook, the arrest report said.

Following the incident, Parrish was arrested and charged with poisoning food or water with the intent to kill or injure a person. She remains in custody and is due to appear in court on Dec. 29.
