A woman in Seattle is accused of assaulting a child, spitting on a bus driver and stealing the keys to the school bus Tuesday morning. The woman fled from the scene on foot before cops arrested her the same day.

Officers from the Seattle Police Department were informed around 8:45 a.m. about the 44-year-old woman storming into an occupied school bus in the Yesler Terrace neighborhood and behaving erratically. Upon arriving at the scene, officers spoke to a 12-year-old girl, who said she was attacked by the woman while waiting for the school bus, according to KIRO 7 News.

The girl told cops that the woman came up to her and began yelling. She also said the woman struck her with a plastic water bottle thrice during the encounter. As the school bus approached, the child quickly made her way into the bus, cops said.

“The victim’s bus pulled up and the victim quickly boarded, but the suspect followed the victim onto the vehicle,” the Seattle Police Department said in a statement.

The woman spat on the driver, aged 58, and then stole the keys to the school bus before escaping from the scene on foot, KOMO News reported.

Officers began searching for the suspect and managed to locate her a few blocks away. Cops “took her into custody without further incident. Police booked the woman into King County jail for vehicle theft and multiple counts of assault,” the police department said.

An unrelated incident reported last year saw a 37-year-old Alabama woman boarding a school and assaulting an 11-year-old child, whom she suspected was picking on her own child.

The woman, Nannatt Waldrop, entered the school bus at the Center Point community and began having a scuffle with a student she believed was bullying her child. The woman was arrested by deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and charged with third-degree simple assault, trespassing a school bus and disorderly conduct. The same day, the mother was released after posting bonds that amounted to $10,500. It is unclear whether the 11-year-old child sustained any serious injuries from the incident.
