Denton -- A Texas woman was arrested for allegedly shooting and killing her husband just four days after they tied the knot.

Amber Rosales, 30, initially claimed that the victim, Jeffrey McBride, 31, was murdered by another man, who shot her husband and then flung the gun inside their truck, police said in a news release Wednesday.

Officers from the Denton Police Department responded to the scene after receiving two 911 calls on April 25. One caller told the dispatchers that her husband had been shot. The other call was made to report a crashed pickup truck in the yard of a residence on E. Sherman Drive, according to Law & Crime.

Responding officers found the unconscious victim in the driver’s seat of the crashed pickup truck while Rosales was sitting in the passenger’s seat.

“Medics transported the male victim, who sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen, to a local hospital where he later died. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 31-year-old Jeffrey McBride,” the police department said.

Investigators said Rosales originally said she and her husband stopped the vehicle to speak to another man. She claimed the man fired a shot from the passenger side door and struck McBride.

She also claimed the man fled the scene after throwing the gun into their truck.

The fatally shot driver crashed the truck in a yard nearby, police said.

Denton County marriage records show that Rosales and McBride married each other on April 21, four days before he was shot, Denton Record-Chronicle reported.

“Over the course of the investigation, detectives executed search warrants, interviewed witnesses and family members, and conducted thorough reviews of surveillance videos,” police said in the news release. “Evidence obtained in the investigation showed that Rosales’s statements were inconsistent on multiple occasions.”

Investigators believe Rosales was the only individual that was present at the scene when the husband was shot.

“Detectives applied for a Murder arrest warrant for Rosales, which was granted by a local judge. On Wednesday morning, Rosales was arrested at her residence in Sanger,” the police added.

The accused wife is being held at the City of Denton Jail. Her bail amount is set at $500,000.
