World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) seems to be really taking the threat of All Elite Wrestling (AEW) with the newly-emerged wrestling company potentially luring current WWE superstars to their promotion by offering lucrative contracts and better roles.

Chris Jericho has been AEW’s biggest capture thus far and the long-time WWE loyalist and legend has ensured that he got the attention of the wrestling world when he revealed he had signed the biggest contract of his career. He compared it to an NFL-style offer that "blew his mind".

This revelation has certainly turned heads and WWE is scared that more superstars could jump ship in the face of AEW’s offerings. WWE vice-president of talent and live events Paul "Triple H" Levesque admitted they were keeping an eye on the new promotion but were not considering them a threat.

Despite his admission, multiple WWE insiders have reported they were taking AEW seriously, and to such a level that Vince McMahon was said to have ordered the management to begin securing the futures of the current wrestlers on the roster.

He is said to have green-lighted new deals for athletes reaching the end of their contracts with even the promise of double-your-money deals if they sign on the spot. They have also begun giving a push to a number of wrestlers who previously had smaller roles during televised events – Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live.

According to PW Insider, there was a “flurry” of activity backstage during this week’s airing of SmackDown Live as the WWE management were meeting with a number of superstars, whose contracts are expiring the next year or two to lock them down to new deals.

The report claims WWE is looking to hand them new five-year deals as they reportedly did with The Miz and Kevin Owens recently. The recent announcement about Dean Ambrose’s impending exit from the company is said to have set off the alarms and brought about the sudden need to hand out new deals.

Meanwhile, the preparations for WrestleMania 35 is under full swing with the promotion planning for the matches for their flagship pay-per-view event which takes place on April 7 at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

The main conversation is about the main event with Seth Rollins set to face Brock Lesnar for the Universal championship, while Becky Lynch has chosen to battle Ronda Rousey for the Raw women’s championship after winning the women’s Royal Rumble match.

According to Sports Illustrated, the WWE management is leaning toward closing the event with the Lynch vs Rousey match – which will be the first time a women’s singles match has been the main event their flagship pay-per-view event.

The Rousey-Lynch rivalry has been one of the most riveting in WWE over the last few months. They were expected to face off at Summerslam in 2018 but an injury to the latter postponed the eventual showdown. They will now main event on the biggest stage WWE can offer and the mind games began when Lynch made an appearance during this week’s Monday Night Raw airing.

Their feud continued on social media with both wrestlers trying to get the upper hand despite there being over 60 days before WrestleMania 35 commences. And WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross believes there is no better match to headline the event at the MetLife Stadium.

"To me, it’s the right thing to do,” Ross said, as quoted on Sports Illustrated. “It would be a damn shame to miss this opportunity. It’s time to let Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey go out and make history.”
