Chinese smartphone company Xiaomi announced, in October, the MIUI 11 update roadmap in India and mentioned Redmi 4 as one of the models that will receive the update. This week, Redmi 4 has just started receiving the stable beta build of MIUI 11 update.

Xiaomi’s latest MIUI 11 update brings software version MIUI 11.0.2.0. NAMMIXM and comes at a whopping 483 MB in size. Unfortunately, the update is still based on Android 9 Pie, rather than the latest Android 10. That’s why it doesn’t bring any Android version changes as the Redmi 4 still runs the outdated Android 7.1.2 Nougat version. In addition to that, the MIUI 11 update brings the October 2018 Android security patch that Google has rolled out more than a year ago. Xiaomi is expected to release the full stable MIUI 11 build in December.

What the latest MIUI 11 update will bring to Redmi 4

The latest update, which is a part of Xiaomi’s MIUI 11 rollout series that started last month, brings a slew of improvements and important bug fixes to the budget Redmi devices. These include a dedicated system-wide dark mode and Mi Share feature. The update also improves user experience by offering a new minimalistic design, the Gadget 360 reported.

The changelog shared by some Redmi 4 users shows the latest MIUI 11 update added improved touch control/gestures as well as refined color usage to deliver fresh user experience, the Gizmo China reported.

Xiaomi’s MIUI 11 update also improves system sounds, adding nature-inspired sound effects to the mix. It also brings a new Mi File Manager app with a document viewer, an improved Calculator app to help users perform long calculations in their devices and new Quick Replies feature to allow users to reply to a message or call without having to leave their active tasks on the device. Other new features include a new Steps Tracker and Wallpaper Carousel.
