Penn Badgley’s Joe Goldberg will likely have a hard time in the sophomore run of “You” now that Robin Lord Taylor has joined the cast to portray the “highly intelligent” Will.

Late last week, Deadline revealed that the “Gotham” actor has been tapped by “You” producers for a recurring role in Season 2. The announcement was made while Fox’s Batman prequel is nearing the end of its five-season run.

Nothing much has been said about Taylor’s character on “You” save for the fact that he “deals with unsavory sorts as part of his job” and that he is a pleasant, thoughtful and smart man. Will is also described as someone who does not really like to conform to the standard but this will change when he gets in trouble.

According to the Sun, Taylor’s role will be the archrival of Joe when the latter finds himself in Los Angeles after leaving New York and the gruesome things he did in Season 1 behind.

Meanwhile, the official Instagram account of the show was recently updated with a sneak peek at the upcoming season. The uploaded photos show Badgley, Victoria Pedretti, who plays Love Quinn, and Ambyr Childers, who plays Candace, during the first table read of the script.

“Seeing Joe with Love and Candace makes us happy being single. You S2 in production,” the caption for the post read.

As previously reported, Pedretti is going to be the new lead actress when the show returns. Her character, Love, is Joe’s new love interest now that Elizabeth Lail’s Beck is dead.

Other additions to the show’s cast are James Scully, who was tapped to portray Love’s brother, Forty, and Jenna Ortega. The 16-year-old actress is said to be portraying a young con artist who is going to try and work her charms on Joe.

“You” is based on Caroline Kepnes’ novel of the same name. The upcoming second installment will be loosely inspired by the book’s sequel, titled “Hidden Bodies.”

The stalker thriller was originally aired on Lifetime and was canceled after just one season. It was picked up by Netflix and it earned massive popularity on the streaming service.

Netflix has yet to announce a specific release date for the show’s second season.
