Young and the Restless
Billy (Jason Thompson) pushes his luck on the Sept. 7, 2018 episode of “The Young and the Restless.”  CBS

He came clean to Phyllis by telling her about the high-stakes poker tournament he was invited to be a part of in Las Vegas. Now, with her reluctantly by his side, Billy will start making moves to potentially risk everything as he once again begins to gamble on the Friday, Sept. 7 episode of “The Young and the Restless.”

Billy (Jason Thompson) told Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) the truth about his plans to head to Vegas and join a high-stakes tournament on the CBS soap and asked her to come with him. She has since agreed, even though she doesn’t like him gambling again, and the two are now in the city and ready to see what will happen. However, though she is there to support him, it will quickly become clear that Phyllis is extremely worried about what this means for Billy and his future.

Though she will show him she researched his opponents and prepared spreadsheets to help him be prepared for a win, Phyllis won’t be able to shake a foreboding feeling that this is a bad idea. Even after Billy manages to win a large amount of money playing, she will still have her concerns. Sure enough, they will be proven valid when Sinead (Lira Kellerman) arrives to remind Billy about the next round of the tournament, where the stakes are doubled. Billy will likely want to prove himself victorious once again, which could put everything in jeopardy.

As it turns out, Phyllis will be right to be concerned, because not only is Billy on a dangerous slope in general, considering his past, but neither one of them is aware that this entire tournament is a set-up meant to take him down as CEO. Kyle (Michael Mealor) has gone rogue behind Ashley’s (Eileen Davidson) back in their attempts to get Billy removed as the Jabot CEO, and he has partnered with Sinead to guarantee that Billy makes a critical mistake—like when he initially gambled away JaBoat—with the end goal of him losing everything he’s built for himself.

Since no one else is aware of what’s really going on though, the consequences could be far more brutal than anyone imagined.

“The Young and the Restless” airs weekdays at 12:30 p.m. EDT on CBS.
