Zac Efron and his younger brother, Dylan Efron, recently survived an encounter with a grizzly bear during their trip to Montana.

While on a climb to the top of Continental Divide, the siblings saw a bear staring at them. “Out of nowhere, we were like, ‘Okay, that’s a bear. Everybody stop.’ And we all stood still,” he told People. Efron revealed that the bear was already charging at them and “took like two big canters at us.”

Luckily, the bear eventually retreated into the trees and never resurfaced. “It was the scariest part of the trip! But it was cool to see a bear that close. It was maybe 15 or 20 feet away. It was charging at us!” he recounted.

The Efrons recently teamed up with Columbia Sportswear to act as their “gear testers.” During their recent trip to Montana, the brothers wore a complete Columbia sports gear. They also revealed that they accepted the job because they grew up going on adventures with their family.

Earlier this year, Efron and Dylan filmed a job interview video with the brand’s 93-year-old chairwoman, Gert Boyle. Talking about the experience, the “High School Musical” actor said that he definitely had a lot of fun going to know Boyle. “She is definitely one tough mama. She’s super smart and beyond sweet, but you can also tell she’s a tough lady. We had so much fun filming,” he said.

In August, Efron shared a copy of their interview with Boyle via his Instagram account. What ensued was an interesting and entertaining job interview between the trio. The clip kicked off with the actor introducing his brother, who is best known for working behind the camera.

“We’re the Efrons. I’m Zac, and this is my brother, Dylan. We heard that you were looking for gear testers,” he said. Boyle asked the brother to enumerate all of their accomplishments, and Dylan did so with ease. Efron joked about doing his own stunts, but the 93-year-old wasn’t having it. “Taking your shirt off is a stunt?” she asked. Towards the end of the video, both Efrons got the job.
