A 15-year-old teen in London has been taken to custody for allegedly stabbing a 13-year-old boy while the latter was on his way to school.

Police and emergency services responded to the scene around 8.50 a.m. Thursday local time (3.30 a.m. EDT) after receiving reports of a stabbing incident. The officers found the 13-year-old with multiple stab wounds. The victim was airlifted to a local hospital for treatment and was reported to be fighting for life.

"Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 8.50 a.m. on Thursday, April 29, to reports of a stabbing on Parsonage Street, E14. Officers and London’s Air Ambulance attended. A 13-year-old boy was found suffering from stab injuries. He has been taken to an East London hospital," a spokesperson for the Met Police told local daily My London.

A 15-year-old boy has been taken into custody on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. He remains in custody as of Thursday night and police have asked anyone with any information to contact them via 101 quoting reference Cad 1321/29Apr. The motive behind the crime was not known.

Meanwhile, Georges Green School, where the victim studies at, issued a statement saying, "There was a serious incident in the local community this morning affecting a George Green’s School student."

"We are working with the local authority, the police and other agencies to manage the incident and support all the young people involved. The families of any young people who were directly affected have been contacted by the school. There is likely to be an increased and more visible police presence in and around the school today," the school added, Evening Standard reported.

In a similar incident last year, a 15-year-old teen in London was arrested for allegedly stabbing two girls while they were on their way to their schools. The suspect stabbed one of the girls in the leg and the other in the hand before fleeing the scene. The victims were taken to the hospital where they were and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect was traced and taken into custody.
