  • The boy remained on the run as of Sunday

The police in Kenya were on the lookout for a grade five student who stabbed his father to death after the man chided him for fighting with his baby sister.

The father, identified as 45-year-old Benard Nyangáu, disciplined his unidentified son for hurting his younger sibling during a fight that took place at their home in Nyamira County on Wednesday. Minutes later, when the man was making dinner for them, the boy stabbed him multiple times on his back using a kitchen knife before fleeing the scene, local news outlet MPasho reported.

"The boy was disciplined by his deceased father for fighting with his kid sister during the day and it is like the boy was angered by his father’s action. While they were having supper, the boy took their kitchen knife and stabbed his unsuspecting father on his back near his left shoulder," a police officer told Kenya News Agency on Sunday.

The man’s wife, who was not at home when the incident took place, returned a while later and found him lying in a pool of blood. She immediately rushed him to a local hospital for treatment. He succumbed to injuries Thursday morning, following which his body was taken to the mortuary.

The police told the Kenya News Agency they visited the man’s home as part of the investigation, and found the bloodied kitchen knife. They said the boy remained on the run as of Sunday, and they were doing their best to trace him and take him into custody.

The incident comes months after a 15-year-old teen in Zimbabwe beat his "violent" father to death to protect his mother while the two were having a disagreement. The couple got into a heated argument at their home after the wife caught the man red-handed at another woman’s home. During the argument, the man turned violent and in order to save his mother, the teen hit him on the head with an iron bar, resulting in him falling unconscious. The teen was taken into custody and charged with murder.
