The nominees for the annual TV Critics Association Awards have been revealed, and TV shows like “Watchmen,” “Unbelievable,” and “The Last Dance” will be battling it out for the prestigious accolades in various categories.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, shows like “Unbelievable” and “Watchmen” are leading the list with four nominations each. HBO’s blockbuster hit series “Watchmen” will be looking to continue its golden run by possibly winning numerous trophies.

The series has been nominated in categories like Outstanding Achievement in Movie or Miniseries, Outstanding New Program, and Program of the Year. Meanwhile, Regina King has been nominated for her impeccable acting skills on the show.

King will be up against the likes of Cate Blanchett (“Mrs. America”), Kaitlyn Dever (“Unbelievable”), Mark Ruffalo (“I Know This Much Is True”), and Jeremy Strong (“Succession”) in the Individual Achievement in Drama category.

“Watchmen” received universal acclaim for its first season and currently holds a score of 95% on review site Rotten Tomatoes. The series was included in the American Film Institute’s top 10 TV series of 2019 and was nominated for four trophies at the Critics’ Choice Television Awards.

Another notable nominee is Disney+ hit series “The Mandalorian.” The show has been a huge success for the streaming service and received praise from the critics as well as the audience. The show tells the story of a lone gunfighter (played by Pedro Pascal) who makes his way through the outer reaches of the galaxy, far from the authority of the New Republic.

“The Mandalorian” is nominated in the Outstanding New Program category and will be hoping to win the trophy in a category that also includes “The Great,” “The Morning Show,” “Never Have I Ever,” “Watchmen,” and “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist.”

The second season will be available for streaming in October 2020 on Disney+.

Other nominated shows include “Better Call Saul,” “The Crown,” “The Good Place,” and “Schitt’s Creek.”

Speaking about the nominations, Sarah Rodman, TCA president, told the publication that 2019 was a great year for television because it offered a variety of “groundbreaking new series.”

“This was an incredible year for television, offering a variety of groundbreaking new series with fresh perspectives and renewed vigor for some veteran favorites,” Rodman told THR.
