The corpses of two children were found among the four bodies bearing gunshot wounds in a Texas hotel room on Tuesday in a suspected murder-suicide.

According to Fox News, officers responded to reports of witnesses who heard possible gunshot sounds early Tuesday in a room at the Stabridge Suites in Dallas and found the bodies of a man, 41, a woman, 31, and two boys, aged 9 and 12, all bearing gunshot wounds.

Dallas Police Chief Renee Hall said that the room the victims reserved had expired on Tuesday and added that hotel management heard a single gunshot from behind the door when they tried to enter in the afternoon.

Police recovered a weapon from the room but it was unclear who fired the shot.

The adults were later identified as Charles Schoenfeld and Brittany Howard, the Dallas Morning News reported.

The children's identities and the adults' relationship were not disclosed and investigators are determining the circumstances in the crime but believed it to be a murder-suicide.
