Some “Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.” fans are hoping for romance in Season 2, and Skye and Ward fans might finally see a romantic storyline—at least if actors Chloe Bennet and Brett Dalton get their way. The actors want the couple, known as Skyeward, to make amends despite Ward’s betrayal. He was working for Hydra all along last year. Skye is going to have trouble trusting anyone after Hydra’s infiltration, but Ward could be redeemed.

"I still ship Skyeward," Bennet told Marvel. "I don’t as Skye, but I do as me. I would like to see some romance for Skye. I feel kind of bad for her. We should just have one episode where it’s all romance, because these poor guys! It’s all aliens and action! They need some loving!"

Dalton shares her feelings. He loves the 'opposites attract' idea of their relationship. “It’s an unconventional or an unlikely couple,” Dalton told Marvel. “You can have somebody who doesn’t have any people skills but has all of these technical skills, and then you have someone who’s kind of the opposite. A lot of the way that Skye operates is with instinct.”

However, the couple has a lot to overcome in “Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 2. In the premiere, fans will see that Ward is locked up. In the promo, it looks like he is in S.H.I.E.L.D.’s custody. Skye visits him, but she doesn’t look too happy to be there. It’s hard to forgive a guy for trying to kill your friends. Ward also will have to deal with the fact that he caused Fitz’s (Iain De Caestecker) brain damage and is a huge part of the reason S.H.I.E.L.D. is now a small, underground operation.

It seems that Dalton doesn’t think Ward is really evil. Dalton explained that Ward’s loyalties were to Agent Garrett (Bill Paxton), not Hydra, but he couldn’t even follow certain orders from Garrett. “He couldn’t pull the trigger when the dog was right there or when Fitz and Simmons were right there,” Dalton said. “So what he ends up doing is perhaps giving them a chance? All that we know is that he certainly, as much as he’d like to deny it, has a heart and has feelings.”

Bennet hopes that Skye will be able to see Ward’s humanity. This wasn't the first time she expressed how much she wanted Skye and Ward to get together. At San Diego Comic-Con, Bennet was sure to remind fans that Ward wasn't completely evil. “He was manipulated by Garrett,” she told AfterBuzz TV. “I hope there’s redemption. I’m not sure if it’s going to happen this season, but I think something will bring Skye and Ward together.”

A heart and feelings might not be enough for Skye to justify the attempted murder of her friends. Dalton acknowledged that their relationship is complicated. “I think that they’re good for each other and also really harmful for each other, as you saw in the last episodes where they’re really hurt by each other and able to really cause the other person a lot of heartbreak,” Dalton said. “That only happens when you really care about somebody, so I do personally ship it and it would be a lovely thing to see happen.”

“Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 2 will premiere Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 9 p.m. EDT on ABC. Do you want to see Skye and Ward get together? Or is Hydra something he should never be forgiven for? Sound off in the comments section below!
