Actor Alec Baldwin posted on Twitter Monday that law enforcement should be present during movie productions "to monitor weapons safety."

The comments come after Baldwin in October fired a .45-caliber revolver in New Mexico on the set of the Western film "Rust" that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and wounded director Joel Souza. The shooting has sparked calls for improved safety protocols on movie sets.

“Every film/TV set that uses guns, fake or otherwise, should have a police officer on set, hired by the production,” read Baldwin's tweet.

Baldwin changed the settings on his Twitter account so only users who follow him can view his tweets.

The investigation of the shooting is still ongoing and no charges have been filed. Sources told CNN that Baldwin has abided by requests from authorities and has continued to be compliant with the investigation.

In the aftermath of the shooting, Baldwin and his family have continued living in Vermont.
