If I were to ask you to name a few qualities that make an effective leader, you'd likely say something along the lines of someone responsible, communicates well, and is encouraging to others. Sure these are great qualities to have when leading a team, but the real question is, are they enough?

You've probably wondered the same, which is why you've stumbled upon this article. You are qualified, experienced, and good at what you do, yet things just aren't working out the way you imagined them to at work. Revenue targets aren't being met, team members show up to the office distracted or unmotivated, and you struggle to come up with new strategies to move forward and get out of this rut that you've felt stuck in for quite some time.

Thankfully, you're not alone, and you've come to the right place to find a solution. Changing your business's trajectory is possible, especially with helpful advice from top mindset coach Rudi Riekstins.

With proven strategies that have turned countless businesses and lives around, Riekstins helps CEOs, business owners, and high-level performers become more effective leaders and break through glass ceilings to achieve their goals.

His teachings suggest that effective leadership starts on the inside and requires you to focus on your mindset, especially when faced with challenges. In other words, your business' external issues will only go away if you invest in doing the internal work to better yourself and empower the people around you.

"I work with people on an energetic level, meaning we shift the mind's focus from negative to looking at all possibilities of what is positive. When we do that and focus on what's positive, since there's always a silver lining in every situation, we begin to see the opportunity that presents," Riekstins says.

He explains that a great way to begin to shift your mindset is by asking more empowering questions. It's about changing your focus and perspective to allow new opportunities to arise. For example, if your company just lost its biggest client, ask yourself what opportunity that gives you now, or what was working and what wasn't, which led to that outcome. By doing that, you'll begin to see a different narrative emerge, and soon enough, losing a client will turn into you having the capacity to serve new customers.

Riekstins recently worked with a media agency where the individual sales team members weren't doing more than $30,000 in sales every month, and the very first thing he did was ask, "what would it look like if you started doing $100,000 a month?" And just like that, he inspired a team of people to dream bigger, do better, and change what is possible. Within 30 days, three team members sold over $100,000, which had never been done before. This is a prime example of how new focuses mean new opportunities.

Riekstins shares that this ideology is similar to the concept of a table. "If you were to look at a table, there's the tabletop, and then there are four legs under it that hold it up. When you want to change your company's culture, or you want to break through a glass ceiling, you've got to get everybody to that same level, which is the tabletop, which means you need to reinforce skills, talents, and opportunities underneath that table to support what that new vision is, which are the legs," he says.

As a leader, it's your responsibility to empower those around you, and with the right mindset, anything is possible. By asking more empowering questions in the face of a challenge and approaching your work with a positive outlook, no matter how difficult it may seem, it can set the foundation for the greatness you and your team deserve to experience.
