Amanda Bynes revealed that a director once told her she "looked like a monster" in certain lights, noting that this is the reason why she doesn't look good in photos clicked by paparazzi.

The 35-year-old actress took to Instagram on Monday to share a three-second clip where she showed a close-up of her face, flaunting a heart tattoo and septum piercing.

"The reason I don’t usually look great in paparazzi pictures is because I’m squinting in the sun," Bynes wrote in the caption. "The videos and pictures I post are in a flattering light, or in the shade outside, without the sun blasting on my face."

"I once did a movie where the director told me that in certain lights, I looked like a monster," she had added, before removing the caption.

The actress turned off comments on the post.

Considering her work in movies, Bynes was last seen in a romantic comedy movie, "Easy A," which was released in November 2010. She also worked in movies like "Canned," "Living Proof," "Sydney White," "Hairspray."

The actress lent her voice in a couple of animated TV series in the mid-2000s including "Family Guy" and "Rugrats." Apart from that, she was a regular at a comedy club named Laugh Factory from 1996 to 2018.

Bynes shared a video of herself on Instagram last week, revealing that she is undergoing a tattoo removal process. In the video, she can be seen zooming in to her left cheek that had a heart tattoo, which has been faded a little due to the tattoo removal process.

On the personal front, the actress got engaged with boyfriend Paul Michael in February 2020 but three weeks later they announced the split. Michael took to his Instagram to reveal at the time that his account was hacked and it wasn't him who announced the engagement in the first place.

Bynes, on the other hand, shared a photo of ultrasound on her Instagram and revealed that she is expecting her first baby. The post was later deleted. Even Michael, who posted the ultrasound photo on Instagram alongside engagement photos, deleted the post.

The actress first met Michael in 2019.
