Amber Heard and Johnny Depp’s whistleblower, iO Tillet Wright, has been awfully quiet amid the ongoing scandal involving the former couple’s leaked audiotapes.

Years ago, the TV personality made headlines for making the shocking 911 call after seeing Heard shortly after she was allegedly abused by Depp. In the column that he wrote for Refinery 29, Wright said that he felt the need to speak up on behalf of Heard to defend her friend.

Wright claimed that she saw Heard’s pillowcase soaking in blood, and he also saw Heard’s busted lips and clumps of her hair on the floor.

“I got the phone call immediately after it happened, her screaming and crying, a stoic woman reduced to sobs. I understood her heartbreak. He had been my friend, too, a person I loved very much. A person I had once referred to as a brother,” he wrote.

Wright also said that when it comes to violence, love is no longer part of the equation. Weeks later, he revealed that he already cut ties with Depp. In a series of tweets, the gay activist claimed that Heard has tons of evidence to prove that she was assaulted by Depp.

“How much evidence does a woman need to present? She has photos, texts, witnesses, and filed a restraining order. This culture of victim-blaming makes me sick. I’m a witness. I’m here. I’m standing up. I can’t take any more of this witch hunt,” he wrote.

However, Depp previously claimed that Heard just faked her bruises using makeup. More specifically, the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star said that Heard’s alleged bruises were painted on.

In 2016, the “Aquaman” star submitted a photo of herself to the court showing her right eye with a huge bruise. However, Daily Mail reported that the actress didn’t exhibit any signs of abuse when police officers dropped by at her home following her complaints.

At that time, Heard told the officers that she and Depp just got into an argument.
