"Glee" star Amber Riley wants people to call her by her real name and she hates it when people refer to her as "Mercedes," her character's name in the musical drama series.

"I despise when ppl call me Mercedes. Put some respect on my name. Call me AMBER or RILEY," Amber tweeted Saturday. "It's wild that I even have to say that. No shade to the show/character that gave me a career, but please stop this s--t. I don't answer to it, and if you do it facetiously, I'll block you."

Riley, who played Mercedes Jones in "Glee" from 2009 to 2015, continued in another tweet, "I've done too much in my career to be reduced to one role. Whether you respect the work I've done or not, I don't really care, BUT basic human decency is to recognize me as a person and use my actual name. Boundaries."

The actress' fans were divided in their reactions to her tweet. Some of them said they will no longer support Riley's career.

"Please go ahead and block me Amber. I love and respect you and always will. You seem to forget that while you put in the hard work to get where you are, you wouldn't be there without your fans," one person said.

"If you're ready to say goodbye to Mercedes then so am I. I wish you all the success in the world," another person chimed in.

Meanwhile, other fans sided with the actress on the issue.

"The fact that she owes part of her success to her fans doesn't mean her fans own her or are entitled to anything from her. And you don't respect her — you're undermining & talking down to her right now for making an incredibly small but vital & personally meaningful request," Twitter user @animalogist said.

Riley also responded strongly to a fan's reply, saying, "As a Black woman I've learned i have to advocate for myself and set clear boundaries because no one else will do it for me!"

Riley went on to perform as a singer and actress when the show ended in 2015. She has appeared in the series "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" and "A Black Lady Sketch Show" and also in televised musicals "The Wiz Live!" and "The Little Mermaid Live!" She also performed on stage for the "Little Shop Of Horrors" and "Dreamgirls."
