Anderson Cooper has revealed the unconventional approach he came up with to get his older son Wyatt Morgan to bond with his baby brother Sebastian Luke.

The longtime CNN anchor, 54, announced back in February that he welcomed a second child, now-8-week-old Sebastian, and the new addition to the family officially made his 23-month-old son Wyatt a big brother.

During his guest appearance on Wednesday's episode of "The Late Show," Cooper told host Stephen Colbert that he's been "worried" about his sons getting along based on his own childhood with late brother Carter Vanderbilt Cooper.

"I was really worried about this. When I was growing up, when I came, my brother was like 2 years and 4 months older, and every childhood photo I have is I'm very happy as a little baby and my brother's chewing the inside of his lip," Cooper shared, making the crowd laughed.

Colbert then displayed a photo of the journalist smiling as a baby next to his older brother, whom Cooper jokingly said appeared to want to get rid of him.

Cooper didn't want Wyatt to feel that way about Sebastian and thus took a different approach with his older son.

"With Wyatt, I've gone a different tact. I'm doing a slow roll with Sebastian. I didn't want Wyatt's life to suddenly cataclysmically change ... Wyatt's not on top of him every day. We go out a lot," he explained.

To help Wyatt adjust to his new life as an older brother, Cooper said he and his older son playfully mock Sebastian.

"I've started doing this thing with Wyatt where we both sort of make fun of Sebastian," Cooper said. "I mean, not in a bad way. I started doing this thing like when Sebastian's crying, Wyatt will look at me and I'll look at him and I'll go, 'Wah! I'm a baby. I'm crying, I'm crying.' He likes it. And now he does it too."

Colbert, 57, teased his guest that Sebastian is his and Wyatt's "common enemy," adding, "You're going to stop this before the child understands English, right?"

"Of course, I'm going to stop it!" Cooper responded with a laugh.

Anderson revealed the arrival of his second son on his show "Anderson Cooper 360" earlier this year. He shared a snap of Wyatt and said, "If he looks particularly happy in this picture, it's because he now has a baby brother."

"This is Sebastian Luke Maisani-Cooper. He was 6.8 pounds at birth, and he was healthy and happy and even his occasional hiccups, are to me, adorable," Cooper said of his newborn. "He mostly just sleeps and eats and certainly poops, but he already seems like a wise and thoughtful little chap."

Cooper also shared that Wyatt and Sebastian are being raised by him and his "best friend and former partner," Benjamin Maisani.

"Wyatt calls me 'Daddy' and Benjamin 'Papa,'" he said. "We're a family. Benjamin is also in the process of adopting Wyatt, whose last name will be changed to Maisani-Cooper as well."
