Angelina Jolie penned a heartfelt letter for all parents amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Jolie, a TIME contributing editor and special envoy of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), wrote a moving letter for moms and dads because she understands that parenting is more challenging during the lockdown. In her letter, she reminded parents that they don’t need to be perfect because children want more honesty.

“I am thinking of you. I am imagining how hard each of you is trying to get through your days. How much you want to lead your loved ones through this. How you worry. How you plan. How you smile for them, when inside you feel at times you are breaking,” Jolie wrote.

Jolie recognized the parents’ common concern – to do right and provide the family’s need while staying calm and positive amid the pandemic. However, she realized that it’s impossible. The “Maleficent” star also shared her realizations which make things easier for her.

“It is a lovely thing to discover that your children don’t want you perfect. They just want you honest. And doing your best. In fact, the more room they have to be great where you are weak, the stronger they may become,” Jolie wrote. “They love you. They want to help you. So in the end, it’s the team you build. And in a way, they are raising you up too. You grow together.”

Jolie has been talking about the kids’ welfare while the country is in lockdown. According to her, she and her six children are doing all right. But she recognized that many kids around the world are vulnerable at present.

She noted that the coronavirus has shown the “cracks in our systems.” In the U.S. alone, there are 11 million children who are suffering from food insecurity, so she is calling for change.

“We should never have children around the world that vulnerable,” Jolie said. “This is a time for outrage. For grand change across the world.”

Jolie also called everyone to “love each other.” She encouraged the people to be a support group and to keep their eyes open to care for others.
