‘Animal Kingdom’ Season 4 Spoilers: Episode 12 Synopsis Released; Watch ‘Ghosts’ Promo

Smurf has been living on the edge ever since she learned of her cancer diagnosis, and on “Animal Kingdom” Season 4, episode 12, her reckless behavior will threaten to destroy the Cody boys.

“The Cody family sets off on Smurf’s (Ellen Barkin) mysterious heist, unaware of the surprises that await them when they arrive, which will change the family forever,” the “Ghosts” synopsis teases.

In the promo video for the TNT series, Smurf is heard telling someone that if they want to lead, this is what leaders do.

In the previous episode, Pope (Shawn Hatosy) and J (Finn Cole) were at odds after Pope learned J lied to him about seeing Angela (Emily Deschanel) before she relapsed.

He told his nephew that once Smurf was dead, J would be kicked out of the Cody family home. With rising tensions, and a large amount of money on the line, will J and Pope be able to put aside their differences to pull off the heist?

In a flashback, viewers learned that when Janine (Leila George) was pregnant with Pope and Julia, Colin (Grant Harvey) died after he was shot trying to protect her. Devastated by his death, and unsure how to live without him, Janine drove Colin’s body to his brother, Jed’s (Joseph Morgan) house.

Jed got into the car, and Janine got into the backseat before he drove off. At the end of “Animal Kingdom” Season 4, episode 11, Janine was seen breaking down as she watched dirt cover the car and Colin’s body.

Although it’s unclear how long Janine stayed with Jed after Colin’s death, it appears she spent enough time on his compound to be confident about pulling off a robbery.

However, from the looks of the “Animal Kingdom” Season 4, episode 12 promo video, it appears the family will face some trouble during the heist. In the “Ghosts” preview, Craig (Ben Robson) and Deran (Jake Weary) appear concerned as if something went wrong during the heist.

Will Smurf’s plan to rob Jed end up destroying the Cody family?

“Animal Kingdom” Season 4, episode 12 airs Tuesday at 9 p.m. EDT on TNT.
