  • Anwar said the human body is capable of healing itself
  • Twitter users have mixed opinions on Anwar's statement

Anwar Hadid does not plan to take the COVID-19 vaccine and several online users criticized him for his stand against it.

Gigi and Bella Hadid's brother, Anwar, was asked on Instagram if he would take the COVID-19 vaccine. He gave a negative response by writing, "Absolutely not," TMZ first reported.

During the same question and answer, another follower asked him why he was an anti-vaxxer and the 21-year-old model, who was diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2012, gave a short explanation.

"Either I just don’t get it or I get it and god willing heal from it and get antibodies rather than do that process unnaturally, our bodies are made by the creator to do way more than we think," he replied.

Anwar's stand against the COVID-19 vaccine received mixed responses from Twitter users. Many respected his decision, but several also slammed him because for them, he would be a threat to others once he contracts the virus.

"Gigi Hadid's ugly nepotism model brother being a stupid anti-vaxxer is as unsurprising as Jake Paul being racist," one tweeted.

"I'm not surprised Anwar Hadid its[sic] antivax I've always found him to be very stupid I hope the rest of the family its[sic] worth it," another user added.

"Anwar Hadid just confirmed he’s a f--king Anti-Vaxxer so if you continue to support him you are equally f--king stupid," a third netizen wrote.

Despite the backlash, several also defended Anwar because according to them, he would be more susceptible to the side effects considering that he was diagnosed with Lyme disease. Several also stressed that it’s his personal decision and there was no point judging him for that thing alone.

"Having an autoimmune disease puts you more at risk for the adverse side effects of the vax itself," one wrote.

"That‘s his opinion on the vaccine if he doesn’t want to get it then he doesn’t have to no point judging him based on what his opinion is on the vaccine," another user added.

"It’s a personal choice and no one’s business so I don’t understand what the problem is," a third netizen stated.

"Not an anti-vaxxer but I don't blame him i don't want it yet either. I'll wait til they get all the kinks worked out. I don't want nor need to grow extra appendages n whatnot," a different user wrote.

"I don’t blame him. I personally will not be anybody’s guinea pig. I will continue to wear a [facemask emoji] until we know more about the risks and Side effects," @hazygrl247 shared.

Anwar, Bella and their mom, Yolanda, have been suffering from Lyme disease, an infectious disease caused by the Borrelia bacterium that’s spread by ticks. The typical symptoms include fever, headache, fatigue and skin rash. The family has been working on raising awareness about the disease following their diagnosis.
