Apple is currently working on its new AirTags device which allows its owners to track their belongings with this Bluetooth tracker. The device is small and can be attached to important personal belongings and help users locate them with their iPhones if its lost. Here’s what we know about Apple’s venture into these Bluetooth trackers.

Apple’s Bluetooth Trackers

Apple’s AirTags are small Bluetooth enabled tiles that can be attached to belongings as a failsafe option upon losing or misplacing it. AirTag owners can track their belongings with this device. Similar Bluetooth trackers are already out in the market but AirTags have more integrated features with Apple devices.

These AirTags have Bluetooth chips inside it which will allow it to access and link itself to Bluetooth devices such as an Apple iPhone or iPad. The AirTags will mostly transmit location data to the iPhones and help its owners locate it faster.

The upcoming device is expected to be small and may be attached to an item with an adhesive or attachment points that can a keyring can hold itself to. Inside information about the AirTags confirm that the device will be small and circular.

How It Works

Any item attached with the AirTags can be set to Lost Mode in the Apple device if it seems to be missing. The AirTags would then send your contact details to nearby iPhones going near your item and potentially help you recover the lost AirTagged item. Both finder and the owner will be informed by the AirTag ‘s feature.

As Apple currently has the U1 ultra-wideband chip technology right now, the newer iPhones and iPads could find this device faster. Apple’s infrastructure also allows the AirTags to provide more accurate details of its location.

How Much?

Apple has yet to release any details about the AirTags price. Potentially, it could be priced similarly to its rival Bluetooth trackers at around $25 to $35 per piece. Apple has been looking to release affordable prices since the release of the iPhone 11 and could be the same with the AirTags.

Release Date

The device is also yet to be discussed in any of Apple’s recent tech events and any hints in its iOS 13 updates. It’s possible that the device could be released in last few months of 2019 or by upcoming 2020.
