A security guard at an Apple store in New York City was stabbed multiple times after attempting to enforce the business’ COVID-19 mask policy.

The incident took place on Friday at the West 14th Street location around 6:20 p.m. when an unidentified man began attacking a 37-year-old security guard that asked him to put on a face mask while inside of the store.

“I heard them yelling and pushing and shoving,” Roberto Monticello told the Daily News, recalling the attack.

Monticello revealed he saw blood on the security guard’s shirt. “He was cut on his side. He was bent over clutching himself,” he said.

The security guard was reportedly stabbed with a knife once in the forehead and one time in the left arm. Following the attack, ran north on Ninth Avenue and eventually into a subway station.

Apple employees dragged the security guard inside of the store behind the spiral stairway where they began administering first aid.

Once the ambulance arrived, the security guard was placed on a stretcher. He was then transported to the hospital in serious but stable condition.

Police spoke with employees after the attack, which resulted in the Apple Store closing two and a half hours earlier than its scheduled time.

A cleaning company arrived later in the evening to clean the trail of blood that was left when employees moved the security guard to safety.

The suspect has been described as a black male, 5’6, in his 20s, who was seen wearing a black sweatshirt, blue jeans, and a black mask. No arrests have been made, but the investigation remains ongoing.
