Ashton Kutcher’s highly publicized divorce with Demi Moore became the subject of public and media scrutiny. Several years later, the actor admitted that he has learned a lot of lessons from this experience.

“I have the great fortune of getting a divorce because I felt how much the loss is in there,” Kutcher said in a speech he delivered at the Ron Pearson Center in West De Moines, Iowa. The actor was honored with the Robert D. Ray Pillar of Character award for his “good character as a role model,” E! News reported.

The actor added that he was probably the first person to receive the honor despite having his name dragged to the mud by tabloids and getting tagged as an adulterer. In 2010, Kutcher was plagued with infidelity rumors, but at the time, he denied cheating on Moore. Three years later in 2013, the couple finally decided to call it quits.

Of course, there were many people who did not believe his claims, including actor Scott Eastwood. He previously revealed that Kutcher had sex with one of his exes, so he believes that the latter did cheat on his ex-wife. “If it makes you feel any better, he did sleep with one of my ex-girlfriends -- but she was my current girlfriend at the time,” Eastwood told Entertainment Tonight. “Well, I think it was the catalyst that broke him and Demi up.”

However, the “No Strings Attached” star insists that he is a changed man now. During his speech, Kutcher made a tribute to his family. The actor talked about his family life with wife, Mila Kunis, and admitted that he learned his greatest life lesson from his kids.

Kutcher explained that it wasn’t until he finally became a dad himself that he realized the effort and love of his parents for him. He added that when he welcomed his kids into the world, he wanted to call his parents and apologize because he didn’t know how much they loved him until he had two kids of his own.

Kutcher and Kunis had a secret wedding over the Fourth of July weekend in 2015. The “Jobs” star told host Ellen DeGeneres during a guest appearance on her talk show at the time that they wanted to keep their wedding private, so he posted on social media that they were in different locations on the day of their wedding, Daily Mail reported.

“We really didn’t want helicopters at our wedding, and it’s a legitimate concern, so I was posting things on social media that we were in different locations,” Kutcher said.
