Barack Obama paid a sweet tribute to his wife Michelle on Mother's Day.

The former U.S. president took to Twitter to share a sweet message for his wife. Barack shared a snap of him hugging Michelle and in the caption, he encouraged others to give their moms “extra thank you.”

“Even if you can’t give the moms in your life a hug today, I hope you can give them an extra thank you today. Thank you and Happy Mother’s Day to the woman who makes it all possible. Love you, @michelleobama,” Barack wrote.

Barack is very open when it comes to praising his wife in public. In November 2019, he also made a sweet post recognizing Michelle’s effort after the former FLOTUS explained why the Obama Presidential Center selected Jackson Park as its future home.

“No one says it better than @MichelleObama — the Obama Presidential Center coming to the South Side isn’t for us, it's for the community and the next generation of leaders,” the former president of the United State wrote on Twitter.

Just recently, Michelle’s “Becoming” documentary was released on Netflix. The film was directed by Nadia Hallgren and was shot when Michelle embarked on a 34-city tour to promote her book “Becoming.”

The documentary offers a rare and up-close look at Michelle during the tour. Michelle’s book and documentary aim to show the power of community and how people are brought closer to each other when they openly share their stories.

According to Hallgren, it wasn’t easy filming Michelle because she is “flanked by the Secret Service everywhere she goes.”

“She moves quickly and I had to learn to move with her — I filmed in tight, private spaces in a way that required the smallest possible footprint, but also allowed me to build a close relationship with her,” Hallgren revealed.

Michelle’s daughters Malia and Sasha were very happy for their mom. According to Sasha, 18, she was proud of her mom. Meanwhile, Malia, 21, said she was happy because their mother was no longer subjected to the same scrutiny when they were still in the White House.
