The rumor mill of Apple iPhone 5's release date has got another twist in the tale as new reports have emerged revealing that retailer Best Buy is set for an October launch of the much-awaited Apple iPhone 5. But hold on, there are contradictions among the media reports regarding probable release dates.

According to a leaked document received by Boy Genius Report from Best Buy, Apple will launch the next-generation phone in the first week of October.

Thanks to a leaked document from a Best Buy source, we have discovered that Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile stores are anticipating taking preorders for the iPhone 5 starting in the first week of October, the BGR report said.

The leaked note to employees also mentioned that Sprint will be offering iPhone 5 at launch, thus, becoming the third carrier in the U.S., including Verizon and AT&T, to offer the new phone, according to recent rumors.

However, it did state that the product launch dates are subject to change.

On the other hand, tech site This is my next is betting on another date. It reported on Sunday that Best Buy is scheduled to have an Apple fixture installed on Friday, October 21.

To be clear, this isn't a run-of-the-mill installation for the big box -- our tipster tells us that the request that a manager be on-hand at 6AM is out of the ordinary (they usually show up at 7AM for inventory), and that a similar arrangement was scheduled for the iPhone 4 launch, the report said.

The report further said that Best Buy Mobile managers have a meeting scheduled for October 10 to discuss upcoming BIG release dates.

Both the reports from BGR and This is my next have lent credibility to several other reports pointing to an October release of the iPhone 5.

Citing a source, claimed to be familiar with Apple's plans, All Things D reported in August that the phone will hit the stores in the month of October. Separate source also reportedly said that the device will be unveiled later in the month, Apple Insider reported.

As we've two potential release dates, it just increases the fever pitch of iPhone 5 excitement. Despite all these rumors, it's quite possible that Apple will exploit the growing fever and come up with an announcement date that will ultimately flout all of the most plausible announcement rumors.
