Bill Cosby is trending on Twitter after his recent mugshot was released on the platform. Many users pitied him for looking so old and spending his sunset years in prison.

Cosby is serving a three- to 10-year imprisonment after he was convicted for felony sex assault in 2018. "America's Dad" was the first celebrity convicted of sexual misconduct amid the #MeToo movement for drugging and sexually assaulting a woman at his home in 2004, Entertainment Tonight reported.

Cosby cracked a smile in his most recent mugshot taken on Sept. 4, according to the New York Post. However, many were sad because they felt like he looked so old, vulnerable and unhappy. Many also agreed that the photo provoked compassion.

"When I saw it I thought that it’s strange that seeing him hurts rather than angers me. I don’t feel that way about all of the other rapist creeps. I grew up watching Bill Cosby. I really loved him. It’s just so sad that we never knew who he really was," one user wrote.

"That pic of Bill Cosby made me sad. He deserves being in prison but damn," another added.

"Bill Cosby new mugshot just made me sad I feel bad for him," @UloveChas wrote.

"Bill Cosby omge! I just want them to let him out ... it’s sad in there for him," another netizen commented.

"The fall of Bill Cosby was real and hard. He deserved to be in jail for what we did but seeing him in there looks sad," a different user added.

However, while many sympathized with Cosby, there were also several online users who chose not to pity him because he is a convicted sex felon. For them, he deserves to be in jail and some of them even said he should have been thrown in jail when he was younger. Others were puzzled that many still pitied Cosby even after he drugged and raped a woman.

According to ET, Cosby admitted to giving Andrea Constand, his accuser, unidentified pills. But his lawyers called the encounter consensual. Dozens of other women came forward and accused Cosby of sexual assault deeming him as a sexually violent predator.

"I don’t care if Bill Cosby is elderly or somebody’s grandpa, he’s a serial rapist. I don’t care how long ago it was, he’s pure evil. Rapists deserve to die alone and ostracized in prison. I don’t care who’s mad. I sympathize with survivors. Not sex predators," one wrote.

"When women report rape and sexual assault, y’all are so quick to victim blame, call them liars and show them no sympathy. All it took was one mugshot of Bill Cosby with a bad hair day for y’all to feel sorry for him," another opined.

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court will hear Cosby's appeal on Dec. 1.
