Bill Maher Slammed Over Incest Joke: List Of Hosts Who Made Lewd Comments About Donald Trump And Ivanka Trump

HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher” host Bill Maher is being criticized for his "lewd incest" joke about President Donald Trump and his daughter Ivanka Trump.

Maher made the controversial comments on his Friday night show that airs on HBO, during an interview with New York Magazine's Gabriel Sherman.

"A lot of us thought, 'Oh, Ivanka is gonna be our saving grace.' When [Trump's] about to f--king nuke Finland or something, she’s gonna walk into the bedroom and you know...'Daddy, Daddy. Don’t do it, Daddy,'" Maher said while making a crude gesture with his hands.

He has been under fire since and the president’s supporters took to Twitter immediately to slam the “Real time” host for his remarks.

This is not the first time a talk show host has been criticized for comments on the president and the first daughter. There have been instances when hosts have targeted the president and his daughter, separately and together, with remarks widely seen as inappropriate.

Recently, during his May 1 show, Stephen Colbert started his “Late Show” with a monologue criticizing Trump for abruptly ending an interview with CBS News' "Face the Nation" host John Dickerson. Dickerson is CBS’ new political director and a friend of Colbert.

"Sir, you attract more skinheads than free Rogaine," Colbert said criticizing the president. "You have more people marching against you than cancer. You talk like a sign language gorilla that got hit in the head. In fact, the only thing your mouth is good for is being Vladimir Putin's c--- holster,” he continued, even as the last bit was bleeped out during the telecast.

Trump supporters started criticizing Colbert immediately for the comments that many said were homophobic, according to a Washington Post report. Some also demanded he be fired from CBS.

A new Twitter account called @firecolbert tweeted: "It’s time to #FireColbert! It’s time he be removed from CBS." A new website called firecolbert.com had also come up.

Colbert responded to the criticism two days later and said “So while I would do it again, I would change a few words that were cruder than they needed to be.”

“I had a few choice insults for the president… I don’t regret that. He, I believe, can take care of himself. I have jokes, he has the launch codes. So, it’s a fair fight,” he added.

Similarly, Fox News’ Jesse Watters was caught in a controversy after his April 25 comments on Ivanka Trump, during his primetime segment “The Five”, was deemed offensive by critics.

While commenting on a footage of Ivanka being booed on stage at a Berlin event, Watters started off by criticizing the audience: “It’s funny, the left says they really respect women, and then when given an opportunity to respect a woman like that, they boo and hiss.”

But he did not stop there. “So I don’t really get what’s going on here, but I really liked how she was speaking into that microphone,” he added with a grin.

However, Watters tried to defend himself the next day by releasing a statement: “During the break we were commenting on Ivanka’s voice and how it was low and steady and resonates like a smooth jazz radio DJ. This was in no way a joke about anything else.”

“Late Night” show host Seth Meyers had also done Trump impressions and pulled out jokes on the president even before he took office. In 2011, Meyers hosted the White House Correspondents Dinner where he began with a monologue joking about Trump.

Again, in August 2015, during one of the episodes on his show, with guest Anderson Cooper, Meyers targeted Trump. He tried imitating trump when the president calls into talk shows without appearing on them in person. Meyers said: “We want to know what Donald Trump is doing when he's on the phone. Does anyone know?"

Meyers also did an impression of Trump, joking about a time when Trump slammed him on Twitter: "He garbles his words. How'd he get a show? The thing he always says about me is that I have marbles in my mouth, which is so great because it's something a 1950s bully would say."
