  • Billy Bush was caught making a sexual comment about Kendall Jenner during the Oct. 31, 2022, taping of "Extra"
  • He was reportedly discussing Jenner's Halloween costume with production staffers at the time
  • The remark was cut, and Bush made a more demure comment in the episode

Billy Bush was heard making a sexual joke about Kendall Jenner in a new tape leaked from the set of "Extra."

The 51-year-old host joked about the 27-year-old model's "Toy Story"-inspired Halloween costume during the taping of his show on Oct. 31 last year, according to The Daily Beast, which obtained the footage. The outlet said that it published only the audio to protect the anonymity of its source.

In the footage, Bush was reportedly standing in front of a large wall screen that showed images of different female celebrities dressed in Halloween costumes. Jenner was at the center, dressed up as Jessie from the hit Pixar franchise.

Bush didn't recognize Jenner's character and had to ask the production crew. An off-screen voice informed him that it was Jessie, and the host made a crude remark referencing the other lead character Woody.

"Kendall goes as Jessie and, believe me, there were a lot of woodies," Bush said to the crew in the room, getting laughter in response.

A representative from Telepictures, the division of Warner Bros. Television that produces "Extra," released a statement to the Daily Beast about the unauthorized leak of the audio, defending the host and saying that "edgy" banter was part of the creative process.

"As with many forms of production in the entertainment industry, the show's creative process allows the flexibility to try different jokes and banter," the statement said. "In the end, some material lands on the cutting room floor, including remarks that may be too edgy to air on broadcast television."

Reps for Jenner did not respond to the outlet's requests for comment.

In the episode that aired on Oct. 31, 2022, Bush was more demure when he discussed female celebrities' physical appearances. While talking about Jenner's costume at the time, he commented, "It's going to be hard to see 'Toy Story' the same way ever again."

The comment about Jenner comes more than six years after his hot mic conversation with former President Donald Trump surfaced.

In October 2016, Bush was fired from "Today" after a 2005 videotape was leaked to The Washington Post, in which Trump bragged to Bush about groping women, and the then-"Access Hollywood" correspondent was recorded laughing in response.

While Trump became president, Bush struggled to find work for some time. His marriage with Sydney Davis of over two decades also crumbled.

He later publicly acknowledged the harm his actions caused in an interview with People in 2018, saying he had to live with what he did.

"There is a term for what I did," Bush told the outlet. "It's called bystander abuse. It says by not doing anything you are endorsing the moment. I have to live with that."

"I was ashamed and embarrassed," he added. "And then I went through stages of grieving because I lost my career. For a man, that's the ultimate degradation."

Bush found a job again when he was hired to host Fox's "Extra" in 2019.
