Wisconsin Police are investigating a homicide after finding the body of a man hidden inside the car of an armed woman who was arrested following an altercation with law enforcement.

Investigators believe the 34-year-old man from Kaukauna died in a shooting in Milwaukee around 2:20 a.m., 17 hours prior to the body being discovered in Cambridge. Police did not release the identity of the victims and the homicide investigation will be conducted by the Milwaukee Police Department.

Police were called to a BP gas station at 281 W. Main St. in Cambridge around 7:40 p.m. Monday concerning a woman who was asking people for rides and money, the Wisconsin State Journal reported.

Dominick Erickson, who lives next to the gas station, said he met Angelina Ruesch, 28, of Hartland outside his house as she tried to force herself into his friend's car.

"It seemed like she was just desperate," Erickson said to WMTV.

"She called somebody and was trying to get a ride," Erickson's mother, Sarah Westlund added. "She just kept saying she parked the car at the Piggly Wiggly and the car is sitting there, 'Please come and get me.'"

Responding officers found Ruesch in Westlund's garage displaying a gun and refusing to listen to them.

Initially, the officers tried to taser her, which turned out to be ineffective. Eventually, they were able to subdue and arrest her.

After Ruesch was arrested, officers found her vehicle at the Piggly Wiggly grocery store and discovered the body of the 34-year-old man.

Westlund said Ruesch repeatedly told her that she was fighting with her boyfriend. "I asked her, 'Where's your boyfriend?'" Westlund said to the outlet. "She kept saying, 'It doesn't matter. He's gone.'"

The Milwaukee Police Department issued a statement saying the "circumstances leading up to the shooting are under investigation." They did not confirm the relation between the victim and Ruesch.

Ruesch has been charged with recklessly endangering safety, resisting arrest while armed, disorderly conduct while armed and carrying a concealed weapon. She was sent to the Dane County jail on a probation hold.
