“Bones” is back next week with an all-new episode. Season 12, episode 2 of the Fox series saw the Jeffersonian-FBI team investigate the death of a man who made robots for people suffering from autism. The crime series reverted to its case-of-the-week format after airing an action-packed season premiere.

What will happen in “Bones” Season 12, episode 3?

According to the official synopsis, the body of an old man will be found at an acid dump site. The team will start conducting their investigation and discover that the victim lived in a retirement home. Soon, the Jeffersonian will be entangled in all the drama related to retirement homes.

In fact, the case prompts the team to talk about marriage and kids.

In the promo of the upcoming “Bones” episode, titled “The New Ticks In The Old Dogs,” Brennan (Emily Deschanel) side punches her husband Booth (David Boreanaz) and tells him with considerable enthusiasm at the crime scene, “I told you science is cool.” He replies sarcastically, “Really?”

The preview reveals that the team cannot find the murder weapon. Arastoo (Pej Vahdat) and Hodgins (T.J. Thyne) try to guess the murder weapon. They speculate that it could be golf clubs or baseball bats but then Cam (Tamara Taylor) reminds them that the murder victim was an old man in a nursing home, so the weapon would be similar to a cane than a golf club.

Although “Bones” is currently sticking to a case-of-the-week format, a new big bad will be introduced in episode 4. Season 12 has an epic serial killer storyline in store for fans.

Furthermore, at the Television Critics Association winter press tour, “Bones” creator Hart Hanson revealed that the cast and crew of the long-running procedural didn’t want it to end. The decision to cancel the series was made by Fox.

“Bones” Season 12, episode 3 premieres Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 9 p.m. EST on Fox.
