Jamie Spears, who was suspended as his daughter Britney Spears' legal guardian on Sept. 29, has been dropped as a client by Holland & Knight (H&K), the law firm that represented him throughout the conservatorship battle.

A source close to the situation told Page Six the firm dropped Jamie from its roster of clients because Britney's attorney, Matthew Rosengart, has claimed time and time again that he will file charges against the singer's father when the controversial legal arrangement is over.

"Litigator Mathew Rosengart has asserted numerous times that he is going to investigate and sue Jamie," the outlet quoted the insider as saying. "If/when he does, Jamie will need to defend and likely be adverse to parties in the conservatorship."

The source went on to say that Vivian Lee Thoreen, who served as Jamie's lead counsel in the case, told her client that he would "need a different litigator and that she and H&K weren't interested in that role."

Once Jamie was all alone in the battle, he reportedly "authorized" Thoreen to "help him find a strong litigator."

Thoreen happily complied and recommended Alex Weingarten, a partner in the litigation department at Willkie Farr & Gallagher. According to a report from NBC News, Weingarten wasn't immediately able to comment on the matter.

Jamie and Thoreen may have gone on separate ways, but a source close to him said Jamie is "pleased with the work done by H&K."

"He and Vivian remain in close touch during the transition," the source added.

However, another informant told Page Six the real reason behind the firm's decision stems from the idea that working with a "suspended conservator," or someone like Jamie, "puts all [H&K's] fees even more at stake.

"They don't want to fund this anymore because when you represent a suspended conservator it makes it much more likely that fees you've already obtained could be disgorged and future fees may not be paid from the estate, but rather would have to be paid from Jamie," the source said as per the outlet.

The next hearing in the conservatorship battle is scheduled for Nov. 12. It is expected to focus on the termination of Britney's conservatorship. Both Jamie and Britney filed a petition to end the legal arrangement in September.
