KEY POINTS

  • Britney Spears is allegedly often up all night, sleeps during the day and "has a lot of anger"
  • The singer is reportedly "going through a lot and has been increasingly combative"
  • Spears' inner circle reportedly planned an intervention for her, but it was canceled

Britney Spears' behavior is reportedly causing concern among the people closest to her.

People and TMZ reported that Spears' inner circle is worried about the 41-year-old pop star as she goes through a difficult time and had planned an intervention for her. International Business Times could not independently verify this information.

According to the outlets, their planned intervention was canceled at the last minute, but Spears met with a doctor Wednesday night, and the meeting went well.

"Britney has been acting increasingly erratically and those around her have grown more concerned," an anonymous source close to the singer told People. "She is often up all night, sleeps during [the] day and has a lot of anger."

Things behind the scenes have been "very difficult" and "absolutely chaotic," another unnamed insider in Spears' circle told the outlet. Those close to the "Toxic" singer have reportedly been encouraging her to seek help.

"Everyone had hoped Britney could be convinced to seek treatment before things got any worse, but they knew it wouldn't be easy," the second insider claimed. "She's been going through a lot and has been increasingly combative."

TMZ reported, citing multiple unnamed sources with direct knowledge, that Spears' inner circle had planned an intervention because the singer's alleged mental health and substance abuse struggles had become serious.

"I'm afraid she's gonna die," a person "in regular contact" with the "Stronger" songstress reportedly told the outlet.

Spears has allegedly been taking medications that "hype her up" and has been "flying off the handle" with increasing regularity, the outlet's sources claimed. The insiders alleged that Spears was not taking the medications that stabilize her.

The sources shared more details about the failed intervention, telling TMZ that Spears' manager rented a house in the Los Angeles area for several months and planned to take the singer to the home Tuesday, where her husband Sam Asghari, her manager, an interventionist and doctors would be present, in an attempt to convince her she needed help.

Spears' father Jamie Spears, mother Lynne Spears and two teenage sons with ex-husband Kevin Federline were reportedly not involved.

However, the plan was scrapped after Spears allegedly became "somewhat aware" of it.

TMZ said it did not receive a response when it asked multiple people connected to Spears and Asghari about the reason the intervention was canceled.

Last month, TMZ reported that Spears allegedly had a meltdown inside a restaurant near her home. Witnesses told the outlet that the singer allegedly acted manic and was heard yelling and talking gibberish. Asghari was allegedly upset and walked out.

However, Spears' husband immediately denied the report that she had a meltdown.

"Don't believe what you read online people," Asghari wrote on his Instagram Stories.
