BTS’ Jungkook has set a new record on Spotify after his solo piece “Euphoria” reached over 292.8 million streams on the music platform surpassing K-pop legend Psy’s “Gangnam Style” for the title of the most played track by a male Korean solo act on Spotify.

The 2018 track is part of the BTS’ album “Love Yourself: Answer” and was written by DJ Swivel, Candace Nicole Sosa, "Hitman" Bang, Supreme Boi, Melanie Joy Fontana, Adora and BTS leader Namjoon.

The track, also produced by DJ Swivel, was used in the season 1 finale of the HBO series “Euphoria” as per Bandwagon Asia.

Here is the music video of Euphoria which is currently at over 87 million views on YouTube since it premiered in 2018.

“Euphoria” is a catchy tune that highlights Jungkook’s soulful vocals that perfectly fit the theme of the song: the thrill of navigating young love. This is clearly reflected in the chorus line: “Yeah yeah yeah yeah/Euphoria /Euphoria/Take my hands now/You are the cause of my euphoria.”

The popularity of Psy's “Gangnam Style” in 2012 opened the door for South Korean musicians to enter the international music scene. The track and its unique choreography became a smash hit in many countries and peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart – the highest Hot 100 chart position for an Asian act at that time, according to Bandwagon Asia. It was beaten by another BTS track “Dynamite” which debuted at No. 1 in 2020.

Jungkook, who is yet to launch a solo career, holds the record for the top two longest-charting Korean solo tracks on Spotify for “Euphoria” and “My Time.” The two tracks are also the longest-charting Korean B-sides on the purchase-only list.

On the chart dated Nov. 6, “Euphoria” leads with a total of 87 frames, while "My Time" closely follows at 83 weeks (as of the chart dated Nov. 6).

In Jungkook’s “BE-hind Full Story” interview posted by Bangtan TV in February, the youngest member of BTS mentioned “Euphoria” as the song that best portrays his talent as a singer.

“I love ‘Euphoria.’ But I think my voice at that time was somehow between my baby-like voice of the past and my current stable voice. I think my voice was somewhat natural and my feelings and my efforts were included in the song,” he said in the video.
