  • The North American leg of their tour has been postponed as well

BTS has become the latest musical group to postpone upcoming gigs due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The band was supposed to start the “Map Of The Soul” world tour in South Korea later this month. The promoters of their world tour, Live Nation, confirmed the news on social media.

Taking it to Twitter, the organization issued a statement and explained that it is highly impossible for the band to tour Europe under the current circumstances. The governments of various European countries have imposed strict guidelines on mass gatherings, and they are urging people to stay inside their homes to prevent the spread of the life-threatening disease.

The promoters further noted that their highest “priority” right now is the safety of the artists and fans.

“Unfortunately, due to ongoing government advisories on mass gatherings, BTS Map Of The Soul Tour – Europe has been postponed. Our highest priority remains the safety of our artists and fans as well as the global community,” the statement read.

The promoters also asked fans to understand the decision that has been made in light of the pandemic.

“We ask for your generous understanding that this decision has been made in consideration of the safety and health of everyone involved. We look forward to seeing you all in the future,” the statement read.

Last month, the group announced that the North American leg of the tour will be rescheduled amid the pandemic. The tour was scheduled to commence on April 25 in California and end on June 6 in Chicago.

The band — composed of V, Jungkook, Jimin, Suga, Jin, RM, and J-Hope — became a worldwide sensation in 2015 when their album “The Most Beautiful Moment In Life, Part 1” received positive reviews from the critics as well as the audiences. The band has released 7 studio albums so far, four in Korean and three in Japanese.

The group has won four American Music Awards, four Billboard Music Awards, and seven Teen Choice Awards.

The news comes a week after Bon Jovi canceled all their upcoming shows amid the pandemic. The “Livin’ On A Prayer” hitmakers also expressed gratitude toward their fans for always being there for them and shared that it’s their turn to help them back. In a statement, the band said that they are looking forward to performing again when the situation gets better.

The band was due to start their tour in June and the first show was scheduled to take place on June 10 in Tacoma, Washington.
